Why We Postponed Shrek & Grease — and What’s Happening Next!

At Outdoor Cinema, we’re all about creating unforgettable experiences — and that means making sure our events are not only fun, but safe and comfortable for everyone. So when we saw the weather forecast ahead of our *Shrek* and *Grease* screenings at Nottingham Racecourse, we had a tough decision to make.

With warnings of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, we knew this wasn’t going to be your average bit of British drizzle. It was more "batten down the hatches" than "bring a brolly." So, based on the data we had at the time — forecasts, updates from weather services, and our own event safety guidelines — we made the call to postpone, We put it out on socials and emailed ticket holders.

While it’s never fun to move a long-awaited night under the stars, we genuinely believe it was the right decision. We’ve had enough experience to know that soggy popcorn and blown-away bean bags don’t exactly make for five-star reviews — and we want your memories of our events to be full of joy, not thunder claps.

So… what’s next?

🎃 **We’re thrilled to announce our new date: Saturday, 18th October!**

But wait — we’re giving it a spooky twist!

Because both our calendar and the racecourse's are fully booked over the summer, we’ve embraced the season and transformed the event into a **Halloween special** — and trust us, it’s going to be epic.

We’ll now be screening two cult classics:

🎬 **Hocus Pocus** – a witchy, wicked favourite that’s perfect for all ages

🎬 **The Lost Boys** – a vampire-filled 80s masterpiece with serious bite

So pack away the sun cream and dig out your hot water bottles, blankets, and spooky costumes. It’s going to be a cozy, eerie night to remember!
